January 2020 will be a month to remember. It snowed 28 of the 31 days and we spent 3 epic ones at Gostlin Keefer Lake Lodge. We met up with long time friend Bob Legasa and pro freeskier Essex Prescott for what turned out to be an all you can eat powfest deep in the Monashees. Jeff Gostiln and his crew at Keefer Lake Lodge are new in terms of catskiing operations, but with a blank slate and a tonne of vision they are building something amazing. We skied it all: steeps, open powder bowls, trees, pillows, you name it. We even topped it off with a sunset road gap booter session! The snow is deep and light and the scene is fun, friendly and always a good time.
Check em out and book your next catskiing tript to Keefer Lake Lodge

Sammy Carlson is an artist and he may have just released the best edit so far this Fall. Nevermind that some of the epic pow footage was captured at Mustang Powder, it is a total 7 minutes and 20 seconds of pure white gold. Put it on, turn it up, and sit down because this will make you ache for ski season.

Here is a look behind the scenes for the upcoming IMAX feature Out of Bounds: An Epic Mountain Journey. This featurette showcases the team shooting with all their gear at K3 Catskiing here in British Columbia. It is fun to see how these creative film makers capture the content for their films and tell stories in different ways. In the video you will see some of K3's awesome terrain and a sneak peek at their new lodge but what gets us most excited is that Pisten Bully PB 600 he is sitting on!
Out Of Bounds: An Epic Mountain Journey presented by Honda, is the upcoming Giant Screen 3D documentary following Torah Bright and friends along their mountain journey from Antarctica to Alaska.

Filming for this year's Warren Miller film Timeless
Last season Glen Plake dropped in to check out Mustang Powder Catskiing. They were shooting for Warren Miller's latest ski flick: Timeless.
"I can't believe where they take these cats. The road systems are incredible. The guides? Of course Top notch! They have one thing in mind...LOTS OF SKIING!"
We have skied Mustang a few times and know exactly what Mr. Plake is talking about. Nick and the crew up there are all about getting in as much skiing as humanly possible. Then they feed you well and tuck you in for a good night's sleep so you can do it all over again!
Check out this little behind the scenes exerpt from Warren Miller's TImeless and then be sure to keep the tradition going, grab some buddies and go to the premier in your area.

We had 4 days of Fall here in Canada before the snow hit. And hit it did! Kieren at Big Red Cats was so stoked he and his daughter headed up into their tenure to check it out. From their video the reported around 40 cms near the base of their operation and a guestimate of over half a meter up top! Click the link to see the video...

A Big Winter is just around the corner. We know because we are seeing the tell tale signs. Big pine cones up high, thick berry bushes, an abundance of alpine wildflowers, Johnny's hair is flowing wildly...
Are you seeing any of the signs? Here are 21 Signs of a big Winter is in store according to very scientific folklore:
Thicker-Than-Normal Corn Husks.
Woodpeckers Sharing a Tree.
The Early Arrival of the Snowy owl.
The Early Departure of Geese and Ducks.
The Early Migration of the Monarch butterfly.
Thick Hair on the Nape of a Cow’s Neck.
Heavy and Numerous Fogs During August.
Raccoons With Thick Tails and Bright Bands.
Mice Chewing Furiously To Get Into Your Home.
The Early Arrival of Crickets on the Hearth.
Spiders Spinning Larger-Than-Usual Webs and
Spiders entering the House in Great Numbers.
Pigs Gathering Sticks.
Ants Marching in a Line Rather Than Meandering
Early Seclusion of Bees Within the Hive.
Unusual Abundance of Acorns.
Muskrats Burrowing Holes High on the River Bank.
“See how high the hornet’s nest, ‘twill tell how high the snow will rest.”
The Size of the Orange Band on the Woollybear (or Woollyworm) Caterpillar. According to folklore, if the caterpillar’s orange band is narrow, the winter will be snowy; conversely, a wide orange band means a mild winter. All black caterpillars are not Woollybears. And fuzzier-than-normal woollybear caterpillars are said to mean that winter will be very cold.
Squirrels Gathering Nuts Early to Fortify Against a Hard Winter.
Frequent Halos or Rings Around the Sun or 22. Moon Forecasts Numerous Snowfalls.
So if you see pigs gathering sticks...get your skis out!
